So today I got written up for marijuana use on campus

I took the fall for my friend who can’t get written up or he’ll probably be kicked out of his scholarship program, and I did it without a second notice.

I am just tired of being discriminated against because I choose to use a substance that is enjoyable, has little to no negative medical effects (actually having several positive, and most of all proven medical benefits), and one that is much safer than alcohol or tabacco.

I am tired of being discriminated against because when I smoke weed I marvel at the beauty of life, act nice to other people, am encouraged to follow my dreams and go work in international development in Sub-Saharan Africa. It shouldn’t be a crime to get giggly, like listening to The Grateful Dead, and to be happy. It shouldn’t be a crime to keep something that has been proven to have medical benefits against cancer, with chemotherapy, chronic pain, etc, etc. Even the medical benefits alone from this warrant a complete reevaluation of American Domestic Drug Policy.

When I had a skull fracture, did I use the painkillers the hospitals gave me? No, because those gave me nausea and mess with your head in a bad way. Did I use their anti-nausea medication? No, because it was a suppository. I used an all natural, pain and nausea fighting substance. It just happened to be illegal.

I have a god damn 3.97 GPA, a god damn internship with the National Peace Corps Association, I god damn volunteer, and I play rugby and get regular exercise, while studying subject material derived from my desire to make the world a better place.

I am so disappointed that a few dedicated people were able to run a smear campaign on one of the least harmful, oldest substances in the world and turn it into an internationally illegal, criminal activity.

The Constitution was drafted on hemp paper and it used to be illegal in the virginia colonies not to grow hemp. Hemp was advocated by Henry Ford to use instead of forests as a renewable source for many industrial goods, and to help run his cars on biofuel.

Hemp for oil, paper, plastics, and biofuel. Marijuana for medicine.

I’m done ranting. First world problems aren’t real problems.
